Q: Does the remote installation work from the central console to deploy the Threat Manager product out to the Mac machines?
A: The deployment of the client console to MAC OS is operative with administrator privileges. To perform the remote installation follow the subequent, straightforward instrucions.
1. Insert CA Threat Manager for Mac OS X media into the drive.
2. Double-click the Install eTrust ITM file- the Authenticate dialog appears.
3. Type in your Administrator username and password and click OK- the Welcome screen appears.
4. Click Next- the Notice screen appears.
5. For each of the license pages that appear, scroll through and read the entire license agreeement. Click I Agree to go to the next page- the Select Components screen appears.
6. Click the components you want to install and click Next- the Install Boot Script screen appears.
7. (Optional) Clear the Boot Script check box if you do not want eTrust ITM to start when the operating system starts.
8. Click Next- the Destination Directory screen appears.
9. Click Next to install the components in the default folders or click the Browse button to select different folders for each component. After selecting the different folders, click Next.
Note: You cannot change the location of eTrust ITM if you are upgrading from a previous version eTrust Antivirus or another CA product is installed that uses the CAIGLBL0000 environment variable. Similarily, you cannot change the location of other components if another CA product installed that uses the $CASHCOMP environment variable.
The confirmation screen shows the list of components you selected.
10. Click Install Product- the installation starts- the license screen appears when the installation is finished.
11. Click Register Now if you already have a license key and follow the Wizard to register your license. Click Register Later to install a 30-day trial of the product-the Finish screen appears.
12. (Optional) Click View Readme to see the readme file. Click Previous to return to the Finish screen when you are done.
13. (Optional) Select the Start Services check box to start the eTrust ITM software on your computer immediately.
14. Click OK to close the installer-eTrust ITM is installed on your computer. If you clicked Start Services in Step 13, eTrust ITM is running on your computer.
Q: When will CA Anti-Virus check for viruses?
A: CA Anti-Virus real-time monitor runs in the background, scanning files as they are executed and or written to and read from a disk in real time. CA Anti-virus detects viruses in files downloaded from the Internet, online services, and email systems, including compressed file archives.
Q: Does an independent third party test the CA Threat product line?
A: CA has received detection and removal certifications for malware and spyware from ICSA Labs, West Coast Labs and Virus Bulletin. CA Anti-virus consistently receives the "100% Award" from Virus Bulletin. West Coast Labs has also given CA Checkmark certifications for anti-malware detection and removal and Anti-spyware desktop detection.
Q: If my CA maintenance is really up this month, why does my central console display say I have x number of days until expiration?
A: When you upgrade to the newest version your product automatically is extended for the next 360 days from the time of the upgrade. However, maintenance date on the product does not change. If you let the maintenance expire, you will no longer be able to receive any tech support from CA or Productive. You will also not be able to receive any free upgrades when a new version of the product is released.
Q: Why should I renew my CA Security product if I continue to get signatures?
A: You will not be eligible for upgrades or tech support.
Q: How can I upgrade to the most recent version of my CA product?
A: You can go to the CA website and download the trial of the most recent product.
Q: Is there government, educational, healthcare, non-profit CA pricing?
A: Yes
Q: Does CA Antivirus scan pop3 mail?
A: Not in real time but during a scheduled scan it does.
