Point of Sale (POS) system compromised at national restaurant chain

At a Dave and Buster's restaurant three men gained unauthorized access to the point-of-sale server and installed a packet sniffer designed to capture Track 2 data as it moved from the POS servers to the computer system at the restaurant's headquarters and a data processor's network.  The packet sniffer captured data for approximately 5,000 credit and debit cards which was sold to others who used the information to make fraudulent purchases.  Read more

CA Gateway Security Trial Download Now Available

CA's newest release of Gateway Security is now available for trial download.  CA Gateway Security is a spam and URL filtering solution focused on the small, mid-size and enterprise business organizations.  A couple of the newest updates to the solution are that it now blocks spam at the early stage of SMTP, way before bandwidth and storage data is accepted.  Also, there is an end user management feature that offers the user to quarantine emails, create personal white lists, report false positives all from within the Outlook client.  Read more

Microsoft Out of Band, IE Patch, Now Available for Shavlik Customers

Yesterday Microsoft released patch MS08-078 to resolve a publicly disclosed vulnerability in Internet Explorer.  Shavlik has updated its patch files to include this patch, and recommends that you install the patch right away.   The number of infected websites is growing at an alarming rate - even people visiting legitimate websites are getting hacked with this exploit. CA announces end of service for eTrust Antivirus 7.0 and specified 7.1 versions

CA is following up on its original annoucement in May of 2007 that eTrust Antivirus 7.0 customers will no longer receive product updates, support, enhancements or signature updates of any kind for the 7.0 platform as of May 31, 2008.  Read more

Upgrading to Shavlik verison 6.5

Couldn't imagine doing my job without it
